Smells Like Cinnabuns!
We are no longer in Summer and the nights are getting colder so to add a bit of spice and warmth to a room I usually like to burn a candle or an essential oil. My favourite scents are spicy orientals or something fruity like coconut and pineapple.
one of my top 5 aromas would have to be cinnamon, it is spicy, warm and a little sweet.
I hate looking for Vegan candles and especially Vegan oils! I know they are better quality but they are also pricey and most of them I can only find online…And lets be honest, I am not patient enough for that!
So I was thinking to my self, How hard is it to make Essential Oils? I mean if you think about it all it is, is an extraction from a flower, spice or fruit. I may be off with the technical terms But really if you think about it, it could be a really fun DIY!
I will be testing other scents as soon as possible, but until then here is one I did this morning in about 15 – 20 minutes! – The longer you let it sit the stronger the fragrance
Cinnamon Essential Oil
You will need-
clean sock (that you don’t mind ruining)
Carrier oil – Grape seed oil – Fractionated Coconut Oil
Something to cook in – rice cooker – Saucepan (I used my rice cooker)
bottle for the oil – (I used an old tooth pick canister)
Cinnamon – Organic ground powder or sticks.
My rice cooker has a built in timer and only two settings 1 – cook and 2 – warm, When it is ready it will click over to warm, If your rice cooker is different then set it to the highest setting.
pour the oil into the rice cooker and heat up. when the oil is hot put your cinnamon in and place on cook again. When you are happy with the smell leave to cool for a few minutes as it will be very hot.
while you are waiting for the oil to cool, Place the sock inside your container – this will act as a strainer.
Carefully pour the oil into the sock and let the oil strain through, when you have filled the container to your liking you can store away or use straight away.
this can be incorporated into skin care items as it is safe to use on the skin and both ingredients will be beneficial to the skin.
I will keep you updated once I experiment on a few other items.

Cinnamon is a great addition to any DIY face mask or lotions. you can also add it to your bath for a relaxing mind and body treatment.
Grape Seed Oil Benefits –
Helps to treat Acne, Tighten and tones skin, strengthen and repair burst capillaries, Locks in and promotes moisture, High in Vitamin E and other Antioxidants which help protect against Free Radical Damage.
As a carrier oil this oil works well as it does not have a strong smell so it will not effect the overall scent you make.
